Valentine’s Day

So today is Valentine’s Day. Being in a long-distance relationship gives you little to no opportunities to celebrate it properly, and sincerely speaking, I don’t remember much of last year’s V-day, or the years before that. Most probably because our anniversary is a week after, and we save doing fun, silly things for each other for that day instead.

Last year he took a selfie of himself with an enclosed plastic rose that he bought for me. I thought it was sweet and considerate of him, so I decided to draw that exact selfie and give it to him in return.
We are not a fancy couple by any means, and we don’t do extravagant things just for the heck of it. We just love each other and try to be there for each other (emotionally, since physically we cannot) whenever we can, considering that there is a ten-hour difference between the time-zones and the problem with weird work schedules. Yeah, so an overall boring couple, but with an interesting backstory.

My advice to anyone that is in our situation is that communication is key. Talk about your feelings and desires with your significant other. Let them know if you want to do something fancy or if it’s just going to be a normal day. Even the smallest gesture can have a big impact. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but you can make the day special.

Ours this year started on the wrong foot, but I’m hoping once he wakes up, we can make it better. It’s almost over for me, it’s only just starting for him.
